Thursday 13th August - Walk **** - Two Rivers including a cuppa at
Landguard – sunny and hot.
After watching a documentary last night until midday, well Mag watched it,
I just feel asleep on the settee we didn’t wake up until 7.15 not bad as
it is still very hot, we quickly decided to make a flask and head down to
the old pier at Landguard. As we were later than usual, we bumped into our
neighbours walking their dog and they were surprised to be out before us!
And the prom was fairly busy mainly with stressed looking joggers and open
water swimmers are now the full length of the seafront! We made a small
detour to the Dock viewing point and spotted the new car park machine,
there is nothing free left these days:( We had just missed a container ship
going out but the tug was waiting for another to come in but two lovely
small old wooden sailing boats came past and headed up the Orwell as we had
our cuppa:) After a nice chat we headed for home before it got too hot,
spotting another car park machine at one of my favourite windsurfing spots,
The Manor but I think the fees are going to be fairly small, hopefully! As
usual Mag turns up Bent Hill and home while I continue all the way to
Felixstowe Ferry, nice and quiet at this end. I decide to go out along the
Deben path to see if the combine has cut the wheat by the derelict house,
sadly it had been done yesterday as half the field had been bailed, the big
round ones which always make a good pic! Then I had biked uphill nearly to
the end of Marsh Lane when the tractor and bailer went the other way! I
then had no option than to return so I could get some photos. I got some
nice ones too, Arlo, the Grandson will love them and I got lucky when a Red
Kite came over. Then back home as it was now hot again, could do with
seeing the end of this really hot weather, it has been threatening a
thunder storm but they have missed Felixstowe so far! Breakfast, exercises
in the garden then I get a phone call from my sister asking if I could
visit my Dad who is sadly in Ipswich so we book a spot online for this
afternoon. It is the first time I have worn a mask and it was pretty hot
and uncomfortable, I feel sorry for all the people who have to worn them
all day for work. Dad wasn’t as bad as I expected, a bit frail now but he
has lost hi appetite, hopefully they can sort him out and get him home as
quickly as possible. Considering he is 90 and was still painting and
decorating just before lockdown he has done very well, sadly I think his
working days are behind him now! Mag picked my up and we checked out The
Dip on the way home and it looked windy enough for a foil but it was too
late in the day for me so went home and watched Tipping Point with a cuppa
and cake:)
